Trey Combs is best known for two classic books, "Steelhead Fly Fishing and Flies," and "Steelhead Fly Fishing." He also authored "Bluewater Fly Fishing,"
The first--and still only--book on all major species of offshore gamefish, and how they can be caught on a fly. For a dozen years, Trey was the
only fly fishing charter master for San Diego's long range fly fishing fleet. During over 30 charters, Trey witnessed more than 1,000 striped marlin
hooked on flies. Among his many fly fishing world records are those for wahoo, striped marlin, and black marlin. His other billfish on a fly include
Pacific sailfish (more than 80), Atlantic sailfish, and white marlin.
Trey's first love has always been steelhead. He's currently hosting and guiding fly fishers on the lower Quinault River for "The Evening Hatch."
During the summer and fall, he hosts fly fishers at "Steelhead Ranch" for the Klickitat River's summer-run steelhead.
